How do private at-home swimming lessons work?

You book a certified swimming teacher through Charlie Swim. The teacher travels to your home pool and delivers a one-on-one lesson tailored to your swimmer's level and goals.

Are the swimming teachers certified?

Teachers must submit a valid Working With Children Check and a current swimming teaching licence before making their profile public. Both are reviewed by our team. Other verified qualifications, such as CPR and First Aid, appear on the teacher's profile.

I’ve seen what happens when someone feels safe enough to put their face in the water for the first time. I’ve also seen how much a pool means to a whole community.

That is why Charlie Swim is more than a way to find an at-home teacher. As the platform grows, it creates a way to raise money and attention for remote pools — so more people can learn, belong and feel at home in the water.

Do teachers need a teaching licence and Working With Children Check?

Yes. Teachers must submit an up-to-date Working With Children Check and a current swimming teaching licence before they can make their profile public. Both documents are reviewed by a human. Other qualifications, such as CPR and First Aid, are optional and appear on the teacher's profile once verified.

What ages do you teach?

Charlie Swim teachers offer lessons for all ages and ability levels — babies from 6 months old, toddlers, juniors 5-10yrs, teenagers, and adults. Teachers will often have particular skills and experience with certain swimmer types. A teacher's expertise can be found on their profile.

Do I need my own pool?

How much do private swimming lessons cost?

Pricing is set by each teacher. Teachers choose their hourly rate, reflected in their 40 and 60 minute lesson pricing. Browse teacher profiles to view their rates. Most teachers have their hourly rate set between $70 - $120.

Which areas do you cover?

What if I'm not happy with my teacher?

You can cancel and get credit to use for a different teacher. However, please be aware that if the new teacher charges a higher rate, you will need to pay the difference. Any leftover lesson credit will be added your balance to be used when purchasing future lesson packages. If you do not have one lesson when you cancelled, you can email charlie@charlieswim.com for a full refund.

How does it work?

Browse teachers on charlieswim.com Purchase a package of 6, 12, or 18 lessons. Select 40 or 60 minute lessons. Your teacher travels to your home pool. Your teacher delivers your personalised 1-on-1 lessons. You release the payment to the teacher after each lesson. You leave your rating of your teacher.
